The 2nd NEM-EMERGE Annual Meeting ends looking forward to the activities to come

11 February 2026 By

The third day of the 2nd Annual Meeting of NEM-EMERGE concluded with the same cooperative atmosphere that had characterised the entire event. The three meeting days were sprinkled with in-depth presentations of specific aspects and activities carried out in the different work packages, which led to intense discussions among the topic experts about the results presented. As a few examples, the topics discussed included explanations of the work carried out to understand the heat stability or instability of the Mi1 gene in tomato, research accomplished to identify and characterise novel sources of resistance in potato to control virulent populations, and the analysis made on the abundance and adaptiveness of nematode antagonists.

As a final activity, the partners divided into four groups, arranged the day before with the stakeholders who joined the workshop, to discuss the insights underlined by the stakeholders for each of the innovations presented. This exercise aimed to integrate stakeholders’ suggestions and preferences into the R&D activity and, therefore, to develop tools and solutions that meet stakeholders’ needs.

Thank you all, and see you next time at the 3rd Annual Meeting in Castelldefels, Catalonia!
