NEM-EMERGE findings to address challenges of horticulture in Catalonia
On March 11, the NEM-EMERGE partner Aïda Fullana from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) participated in the II Jornada HUB Sanitat Vegetal Horta held in Santa Susanna, Spain. The conference, titled “Abordant els reptes de l’horticultura a Catalunya” (Addressing the Challenges of Horticulture in Catalonia), brought together 60 participants of stakeholders, including field technicians, agricultural advisors, farmers, government officials, and researchers.
During the session, she presented the findings from the research conducted in NEM-EMERGE, specifically on the analysis of Meloidogyne spp. populations from Northern Spain and their ability to overcome resistance in Mi-resistant tomato varieties, and the occurrence of tropical root-knot nematodes and other plant-parasitic nematodes within field-grown horticultural crops in Spain.
