Enriching experience at the joint meeting of EAPR and EUCARPIA

The 20th Joint Meeting of EAPR ‘Breeding and Varietal Assessment’ and EUCARPIA ‘Potatoes’ 2025 was held in St Andrews, Scotland, from 15 to 18 June 2025, where several NEM-EMERGE members presented the first results of the project so far. Aska Goverse and Arno Schaveling (Wageningen University), Ingo Hein (The James Hutton Institute), Charlotte Prodhomme (Inov3PT) and Marie-Claire Kerlan (INRAE) participated in the event.

The theme of this year’s meeting was potato breeding in the era of pan genomes and advanced genetics. NEM-EMERGE partners underline that ‘the discussions around emerging tools and technologies, as well as their applied aspects in breeding, were particularly stimulating’.

The NEM-EMERGE coordinators believe it was an excellent meeting that gave rise to many interactions and new insights, while providing the opportunity to make new contacts.
