Workshop on nematode DNA extraction for genome sequencing
On June 26th and 27th, a two-day international workshop was hosted by Sebastian Kiewnick and his PhD candidate Hemanth Gopal at the Julius Kühn Institute (JKI) in Braunschweig, Germany. The event brought together partners from Enza Zaden (The Netherlands), Ondokuz Mayıs University (Turkey), and the Institute for Plant Protection and Environment (Serbia).
The workshop focused on training participants in the extraction of high-quality genomic DNA for whole genome sequencing of nematode samples. Through a combination of practical instructions and hands-on sessions, participants gained valuable experience in nematode preparation, DNA extraction protocols, and quality control techniques.
This collaborative training not only enhanced technical skills but also fostered knowledge exchange and strengthened partnerships between the participating institutions. The shared goal was to harmonize methodologies and ensure high standards in genomic research across the network.
