NEM-EMERGE advances in the World Potato Congress

On 28 October 2026, the NEM-EMERGE project coordinator Aska Goverse (Wageningen University) participated in the World Potato Congress 2026, held in Naivasha, Kenya. This year’s theme was “Global Potato Partnership for Enhanced Food Systems, Nutrition Security and Trade”, and a special session was organised on potato cyst nematodes, in which Aska presented the research carried out in NEM-EMERGE to manage these nematodes that have overcome current host plant resistances due to genetic selection.

Together with NEM-EMERGE, the session included presentations of projects with which NEM-EMERGE has previously collaborated and with which it maintains a good partnership. This was the case of PAPAS and PCN, the same projects that joined the dissemination event held at the ESN Symposium last June, together with NemAfrica, extending the collaboration network among projects addressing similar challenges with potato cyst nematodes.
